A piñata is a decorated container made of paper, filled with candy and toys inside. They are often used for children's parties. People hit the colorful piñata with a stick until it's broken then collect the candy and toys that were in the piñata.
This was the first time for me to experience this custom. At first, I was a little bit shocked to see the birthday girl's favorite princess being hit and broken in front of her. Also an older child almost hit the birthday girl with a toy sword when she was trying to break the piñata. But at the end, no one cried or was hurt. All were happy (...except for the princess).
